About IKEA Singapore
IKEA is the world's
leading home furnishings retailer with about 192 outlets in
31 countries. It was founded by Ingvar Kamprad in 1943, then
just a 17-year old salesman selling stationery in Sweden.
The IKEA store opened
in Singapore in 1978, making it one of the pioneer stores
in Asia. It was then located at Sixth Avenue, but moved to
Katong in 1984. In 1995, it moved to its current premises
at Alexandra Road.
