La dolce vita
Ready to indulge in some excellent Italian and Italian-inspired fare? Read on.
The air was filled with the strains of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" as I had lunch
at the stylishly decorated Spizzico. How apt, I thought. For the sumptuous fare made
me feel on top of the world, leaving me only one word to describe my epicurean experience - splendido!
For starters, I was treated to Zuppa Di Mare d' Amalfi ($14), a traditional seafood soup
simmered in a tomato base and with generous servings of clams, crab, prawns, mussels and squid. It
was so rich that I could almost taste the entire Tyrrhenian Sea (the owner hails from the seaside town of Naples) in it!
Next, I had the Risotto Allo Zafferano E Broccoli ($19), Arborio Italian Rice cooked with saffron, prawns,
scallops, broccoli and Parmesan cheese. It's a tangy staple which oozes a seductive natural flavour.
I particularly fancied the textured grains, which lent oomph to the entire offering.
If you prefer pasta, the Linguini in Frutti di Mare ($22) is a nice choice. The noodles are lovingly served with portions of fresh seafood, white wine and extra virgin olive oil in homemade tomato sauce. Neither soggy nor uncooked, the linguini is prepared like a true-blue Italian dish: perfectly al dente.
Before ending my meal with the Panna Cotta ($8), an Italian-style cream-based dessert mixed with caramel and served with strawberry sauce blended with sugar and lemon, I decided to order the Arrosto Di Agnello al Rosmarino ($34), which turned out to be the best choice of the day. Laced with fresh rosemary sauce, the oven-roasted rack of lamb charmed with its succulent appeal.
Feast on these Italian delights yourself; make a date with friends to head for this joint soon!

Check out other equally scrumptious Italian fare at these outlets:
Modesto's
Their spread of homemade pasta includes dishes like Linguine Alla Modesto, prepared Italian Cartoccio style, with fresh prawns, squid, mussels, whole crab, anchovies, capers and white wine. Bite into their traditional wood-fired, thin-crust pizzas too - you can even put your own 20-inch one together from a selection of toppings.
Other must-try items include Tagliolini Con Pollo Alla Cacciatora (pasta with slices of chicken breast, black kalamata olives, mushrooms, and oregano in fresh tomato sauce) and Tagliatelle Nere Con Cappesante E Gamberi in Salsa Di Crostacei (homemade black ink flat pasta served with pan-fried scallops, prawns and diced tomatoes in shrimp bisque sauce).

Lucky Prata
If you're in the mood for some spin-off Italian grub, suss out this eatery's special Italian Roti Prata ($7). With mutton bits, mushrooms, capsicum, onion and cheese spread generously over its surface, this fusion dish could easily pass off as a pizza. Taste it for a unique East-meets-West quality that will pique your senses.
Still have room for more? Be sure to try some all-time favourites such as nasi briyani (chicken, mutton or fish), curry fish head, tandoori chicken, masala thosai, and French- (banana filling with chocolate topping) or Chinese-style (red beans and sesame seeds) roti prata here, too.
